Rob Dodsworth Photography
I’m going to go ahead and assume you’re here because you’re interested in hiring a photographer.
Maybe, you’re looking for someone to capture your upcoming nuptials or perhaps, you’re looking for a family photographer to capture those ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moments.
Frankly, if you’re not looking for photography, then what are you doing here?
Since this is, literally, the “About” page, I guess you want to know a little about me.
A recovering public servant, I live in the beautiful Norfolk Broads with my gorgeous wife and our two children: our nearly double-digits-year-old daughter who is too cheeky and too clever for my own good, and her little brother, obsessed with dinosaurs and pretending to be a ninja (mostly just kicking me in the shins)! The best part of my life is playing silly games with them.
The city of stories
Your storytelling photographer in Norwich
Besides photography and time with my family, my idea of the perfect day is sitting in a café, in Norwich, buried in a good book with a cup of black coffee, bigger than my head or, just ambling along the Norwich Lanes.
I’m lucky enough to have a base in the heart of the old city, on Elm Hill – a photographers dream – famous for its cobbled street and medieval architecture and known for featuring in one of our family’s favourite films, Stardust.
I’m just a stone throw from St. Andrews Hall, Norwich University of the Arts and Norwich Cathedral.
I moved to Norwich in 2004. It’s a place you don’t pass by but go to by choice and I am so glad I chose to stay. She’s a ‘fine city’ (I’m not the first to coin that term – I Borrowed it).
Working in Norwich, I’m often reminded of all the people and places I’ve photographed around our fine city.
I can’t wait to capture more memories around these streets, with the people who make Norwich the City of Stories.
12 years and counting …
I’ve been a photographer for over 12 years, with a focus on weddings for 10 years. Luckily, I stay young because of the first portrait I ever took, which hangs in my attic to age for me!
I’ve seen a ridiculous number of weddings in the last decade. Too many to count in the Norfolk area, lots all over the UK, and, every so often, a couple will fly me out to their fancy destination wedding and I try not to get sand in my equipment, even if it does end up everywhere else!
Trust me, when I tell you, I’ve eaten so much cake, like, medically inadvisable amounts of cake! All of this is to say, when you hire me, you get experience and mid-way through the Summer, a photographer who might look like he has a “cake baby” in his belly.
The simple parts of life make it worthwhile: that big cup of coffee I described above (yep, still thinking about it, it’s a liquid hug for the brain!), good cake, beach trips with my wife and kids, and laying on the sofa watching films. I live for the small moments, remember?
There’s nothing better than noticing those moments and feeling lucky to have them. Maybe you’re here because you’d like me to capture yours?
A professional photographer
For the love of it!
I enjoyed landscape photography as a hobbyist and I sold prints, here and there, but it was never a serious occupation.
But one day, over a few drinks, I was asked to photograph a friend’s big day. And without thinking too much about it, I said, “Yeah, of course!”
Waking up the next morning, I realised that my one camera body and one zoom lens were, perhaps, not sufficient to photograph a wedding.
Being a good friend, I Googled, “cameras for weddings” and at the same time, “interest-free credit cards.”
I’m still a wedding photographer, more than 10 years later. I absolutely fell in love with it. And over the years, as those couples have gone on to have families, I’ve continued to be their photographer.
I still love landscape photography (when I find the time) but photographing people is what really keeps me ticking!
You’ll like working with me if …
- You are looking for a style and approach that is fun and relaxed, creatively capturing photos that tell your real story.
- You want authenticity. You’re looking for a moment seeker. You don’t want to be told what to do, how to act, or pose but you might like a little direction, here and there.
- You love the power of photography to freeze a moment in time.
If this sounds like you, then grab a mug of your favourite and get in touch!
