About

Rob Dodsworth Photography

Hello again!

I’m going to go ahead and assume you’re here because you’re interested in hiring a photographer.

Maybe, you’re looking for someone to capture your upcoming nuptials or perhaps, you’re looking for a family photographer to capture those ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moments.

Frankly, if you’re not looking for photography, then what are you doing here?

Since this is, literally, the “About” page, I guess you want to know a little about me.

Some people call me the space cowboy,
Some call me the gangster of love
Some people call me Maurice
‘Cause I speak of the pompatus of love

Okay – so no one really calls me Maurice!

A recovering public servant…

…and award-winning photographer.

I live in the beautiful Norfolk Broads with my gorgeous wife and our two children: our double-digits-year-old daughter who is too cheeky and too clever for my own good, and her little brother, a keen dancer and ninja in training (mostly just kicking me in the shins)! The best part of my life is playing silly games with them.

Places I’m meant to be as a small business include Instagram et al but that’s far from my perfect day. Life’s too short!

Besides photography and time with my family, my idea of the perfect day is sitting in a café, in Norwich, buried in a good book with a cup of coffee, bigger than my head or, just ambling along the Norwich Lanes.

13 years and counting!

I’ve been a photographer for over 13 years, with a focus on weddings for 11 years.

I also love capturing family memories and telling business stories as a commercial photographer in Norfolk.

Luckily, I stay young because of the first portrait I ever took, which hangs in my attic to age for me!

But really, the length of time I’ve been doing this isn’t all that big a deal.

What you really want to know is how much I put into making your day extra special and into making your photos something you’ll love looking back on!

A good place to get an idea about that is from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. Check out what people are saying right here!

Rob was the perfect photographer for us. He was charming and super fun but captured everything in a very unique way. He captured everyone in their natural way and those pictures have proved to be the best memories we have of our wedding day. We flew Rob out to Majorca for our wedding and that’s the best decision we made! Our pictures are timeless and beautiful.

Let’s talk!

Tell me about your plans and how I can play a part in them!

Cake!

I’ve seen a ridiculous number of weddings in the last decade.

Too many to count in the Norfolk area, lots all over the UK, and, every so often, a couple will fly me out to their fancy destination wedding and I try not to get sand in my equipment, even if it does end up everywhere else!

Trust me, when I tell you, I’ve eaten so much cake, like, medically inadvisable amounts of cake! All of this is to say, when you hire me, you get experience and mid-way through the Summer, a photographer who might look like he has a “cake baby” in his belly.

A professional photographer

I never intended to be a wedding photographer.

I enjoyed landscape photography as a hobbyist. I sold prints, here and there, but it was never a serious thing.

But one day, over a few drinks, I was asked to photograph a friend’s big day. And without thinking too much about it, I said, “Yeah, of course!”

Waking up the next morning, I realised that my one camera body and one zoom lens were, perhaps, not sufficient to photograph a wedding.

Being a good friend, I Googled, “cameras for weddings” and at the same time, “interest-free credit cards.”

For the love of it!

I’m still a wedding photographer, more than 10 years later…

…I keep upgrading those cameras and they have to be paid for. It’s a double edge sword.

Jokes aside, photographing people keeps me ticking - I fell in love with it!

It’s the little moments, remember?

There’s nothing better than noticing those moments and feeling lucky to have them and to be able to capture them for other people. Maybe you’re here because you’d like me to capture yours!

Most people tend to keep their questions related to wedding photography. Though I maintain, questions about life, the universe, and everything are sometimes worth pondering with new clients and also, what kind of wedding cake you should have (I like fruit cake – just saying).
