Hello & Welcome

Hi, I’m Rob – a documentary wedding photographer in Norfolk, photographing weddings all over the UK and destination weddings in Europe.

I live in the beautiful Norfolk Broads with my gorgeous wife and our two children, our 7 (going on 13) year old daughter (the cheeky, too clever for my own good, one) and her little brother (digger obsessed and always hiding my car keys).

I couldn’t live without my camera, books and music (my musical interests are best described as eclectic – lots of guilty pleasures). One of my favourite things in the world is reading and when I’m not shooting weddings you’ll find me in a cafe, headphones on, either buried in a good book or, people watching. I’ll often be accompanied by a cup of coffee bigger than my head! After a late night editing and being up early with my kids, it’s a liquid hug for the brain!

I’m fully insured and also make sure I keep my professional Reverse Walkers Licence (RWL) up to date. The organisation responsible for testing me each year was founded by Plennie Wingo – so you can rest assured I’m being tested by the best! A lot of my time is spent walking backwards at weddings and looking through a viewfinder, it’s a skill I have developed over a great many years and while I am not legally bound to keep this qualification updated, I want you to rest assured that walking backwards as people throw coloured bits of paper in my face, blow soapy bubbles into my eyes, or wave sparklers dangerously close to my eyebrows, is something I could do standing on my head. It has been several years now since I nearly walked backwards and toppled into a fountain, scratched a rolls-royce and tripped over a stray cat! The risk of paralysis aside, walking backwards has been proven by boffins to increase memory function – silver linings!

Other things I like to do in my spare time include going to gym (keeps me fit for weddings!), the beach with family and friends (there’s nothing like the North Norfolk coast), trips to the cinema, cooking, reading or, relaxing on the sofa with my wife. I’m at my happiest when I’m playing silly games with my kids!

Rob Dodsworth Norwich and Norfolk wedding photographer

I’ve been a photographer for 12 years and have focused on weddings for 10 years! I can’t imagine doing anything else. The best thing about being a wedding photographer is that I get to eat fruit cake all year round – not just at Christmas! If you’re having a fruit cake tier on your wedding cake – then you should definitely call me!

I love meeting new people and this is absolutely how I came to be a wedding photographer. It’s taking photos of “people being people”. They just happen to be at weddings, getting drunk, on bouncy castles!

If you’re here you are looking for a wedding photography style that is fun and relaxed, creatively capturing photos that tell the story of your day. You want REAL photos of your day. You love the power of photography to freeze a moment in time. You will get pictures of your cake (before I tuck in!). You will get pictures of your flowers and those other little but important details. But it’s capturing the quirky, in-between moments, the things you might have been a part of but didn’t get a chance to stop and to notice that you really want to see in your wedding album!

You want the funny and joyful moments to shine through. You want “a fly on the wall”, not a photographer telling you or your guests what to do, how to act or, how to pose but simply letting you get on with having a fantastic time. This doesn’t mean being a wallflower, the best, most authentic, images come from being in the thick of the action. Essentially, if you’re having fun, then that’s when you’ll get the best photos. More than anything else you value having a good time. The details matter but you don’t care so much about formalities or having all the “things” – you just want to have an amazing time, celebrating your love for each other, with your favourite people.

If this sounds like you, then grab a mug of your favourite and take a look at some of my recent work or, a gander at the blog.

If you’re just starting out on your wedding planning and you live local to Norfolk but haven’t got your venue booked yet then, take a look at some of these Norfolk wedding venues to get you started. Some of my favourite Norfolk wedding venues include Godwick Hall, Southwood Hall, Bressingham Hall, Hautbois Hall, Holkham Hall (basically all the halls, there’s a lot of halls in Norfolk!) Voewood and Langley Abbey . One of my new favourite outdoor wedding venues is Keeper and the Dell!

Ok, that’s enough about me. I would much rather hear about you and your plans.

If you like what you see and would like to check availability for your wedding date, then let’s talk! ?

A wedding at Narborough Hall

Laura + Simon

I was nervous about the photos and had even contemplated not hiring a professional photographer as I genuinely do not like having my photo taken. However, from the moment you arrived, your laid back approach and great sense of humour instantly put me at ease. You worked your socks off and I can say, for the first time in my life, I enjoyed having my photo taken!

“a massive thank you for all that you have done to capture our wedding day. You made us and our guests feel comfortable, you really have a way with people. Our guests commented on how professional and friendly you were. We don’t think you stopped all day.

We are so glad we found you and that you were able to be part of our special day. Thank you so much. You have given us a gift we can truly treasure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many images will we get?

This depends on a few things – how long your day is, how many guests you have and how hard you hit the dance floor but usually between 450-500 images, each one individually edited by yours truly and available for you to print to your hearts content.

Can we get an album?

Absolutely, I’d recommend it. Better that than a USB gathering dust in a drawer somewhere. Feel free to get in touch and I can talk you through the options. If you’d prefer to make your own book then I offer a digital only option.

Do you work with someone else?

A second photographer is available if you need it but in most situations, it’s not really necessary. I have photographed weddings, by myself, with 200 guests present. I’ll happily advise you if it’s something you really need.

I feel awkward posing for the camera?

That’s normal. It’s nice to get some portraits on your wedding day but I’ll take my lead from you. I love working with couples who want to relax and enjoy their wedding day. Even when I take your portraits it’s often as simple as letting you enjoy a few moments together, while I capture some discrete, candid images to help you remember it by.

Can we meet you before we book?

Yes, Norwich isn’t short of places to grab a coffee! I’m always up for a chat. My weekend availability is limited and so weekday meetings are the norm but get in touch and we’ll get something in the diary.

Will you travel for our wedding?

Absolutely, I work throughout the UK and am looking forward to destination weddings in Portugal and Mallorca in the 2018 wedding season!
