Childerley Hall Wedding Photography

Jen and Alex's wedding took place at Childerley Hall, Cambridge, this Summer - an Elizabethan house set within the most stunning gardens! It is also home to one of the longest timber framed barn wedding venues in England - a humongous space for entertaining!

This wasn't my first time at Childerley Hall, I had been the photographer at a Childerley Hall Wedding just a few weeks before. So, I was really looking forward to going back. It wasn't the first time I'd met Jen and Alex either, they booked me as their wedding photographer, after I photographed their friends getting married at the Old Hall in Ely, the year before. So, it was nice to be back in familiar surroundings and amongst some familiar faces!

I began the day with the boys for a few photos of them getting ready, before heading to the Bride and Bridesmaids who were getting ready at home. Everyone was in good spirits and there was plenty of smiles and laughter from the off!

As the ceremony started, Alex looked a little nervous but Jen came beaming up the aisle and the minute he saw her, he visibly relaxed as she could not contain her excitement at seeing him!

"Thank you so much Rob for the truly wonderful memories you have given us. You captured all the special (and of course drunken) moments from our big day. Our guests absolutely loved you, you blended in and made everyone feel so comfortable!"

The weather was up and down all day, one minute the brightest sunshine, the next minute rain showers that came out of nowhere and disappeared almost as quickly but the rain didn't spoil the fun, some of my favourite images are guests laughing through the rain. The worst of the weather had, pretty much, passed over by the time the wedding breakfast and speeches had taken place. The speeches were fantastic, Jen and Alex also have a great sense of humour and everyone was laughing.

The evening entertainment was provided by Swagger - an amazing local wedding band who I would highly recommend! They had the dance floor going late into the evening.

A brilliant day to have been a part of and really lovely seeing some old faces again too. Here's just a few from Jen and Alex's day - enjoy!

Cambridge Wedding at Hotel Du Vin

Wedding Photography in Cambridge

It was a small and intimate gathering of friends and family for Paul and Simone's nuptials at Trumpington Church, near Cambridge. After which, the wedding guests spent the day enjoying the surroundings and exceptional food and wine that are the Hotel Du Vin's trademark!

A wonderful Cambridge Wedding venue, it was an absolute pleasure to share in - enjoy!

Elle and Sam had a Humanist wedding ceremony at Childerley Hall in the sunny Cambridgeshire countryside.

Much like most of this Summer just gone, the sun shone bright and hot but a shady orchard provided some cool shade as Elle and Sam met at the top of the aisle to say their vows. They had both written their own and they were the funniest and sweetest words I've heard. Sam's words, especially so, had their assembled friends and family dabbing at tears and laughing their heads off in equal measure. The lighting of candles, an exchange of rings and kisses and they came back down the aisle, grinning from ear to ear.

After drinks in Childerley Hall's beautiful gardens, we all headed into the barn for some incredible food from Provenance Kitchen (nom, nom!) and the speeches. A few pictures as the sunset whilst the Ceilidh band, Licence to Ceilidh, set up for some epic dance floor action. Some of the guests gave it so much, they ended up flat on their backs!

Childerley is a beautiful Cambridgeshire Wedding Venue, it was a wonderful day and a real joy to be a part of!

Rob is an amazing photographer, and a total laugh. We wanted our wedding photography experience to be fun, candid, and un-intrusive, and boy did Rob deliver. The pictures are incredible, and really capture the spirit of the whole day [...] Our wedding gallery is a perfect blend of sweet, romantic pictures of Sam and I and these hilarious, vivacious pictures of our friends and family enjoying each other. You can almost feel the movement and the laughter in every shot, and so many of my new favourite pictures of people are in that gallery. Thank you so much Rob for capturing our day so perfectly, allowing us to relive it over and over, and also for contributing so much to how incredibly FUN the day was. I keep trying to think of excuses I'll have in the future to hire a photographer again. I cannot recommend enough!

I'll be back with some more wedding photography at Childerley Hall soon! But for now a huge thanks to Elle and Sam for having me be a part of their celebrations, here's a few images from their perfect day - enjoy!

A Cambridge Back Garden Wedding

A Marquee Garden Wedding in Cambridgeshire

Rhiannon and Henry married in their local church in Cambridge and had a wonderful back garden wedding reception at the family home.

Rhiannon and Henry live in Norfolk but Rhiannon did her growing up in and they both met at university in Cambridge and so it made the perfect backdrop for their wedding celebrations.

Amazing photographer (and photographs) for an amazing day! The photos were EXACTLY what we wanted and I never stop looking at them. It was an intimate affair and that wholly rings true with your approach. Thank you again!

I joined the girls first thing, while the final touches were being made to the marquee and everyone busied around getting ready! I love this part of the day, it's always a great way for me to get to know some of the wedding party and since spirits are high, it's always a good laugh.

I drove the short journey to join Henry and his ushers at the Church and I took the opportunity to capture some candid photos of the meeting and greeting.

Inside the church, as the wedding guests waited for the brides arrival, I nipped in and out to watch and wait for the arrival of a beautiful vintage wedding car. The acoustics in the church were unbelievable and the organ and choir were a treat. I wept when they sang Calon Lân, not least because of my welsh roots but because the music were so achingly beautiful!

The service too was wonderful, with some lovely readings and you could feel the love that Henry and Rhiannon's friends and family have for them both. After the register was signed and it was all made official, the new Mr and Mrs came down the aisle and back outside where we took some quick portraits before the rain came. It came and went though and it certainly didn't get in the way of the party.

An all round perfect day, it was a joy to be a part of - enjoy this little selection!

This wedding at the Old Hall, Ely, an amazing wedding venue near Cambridge, saw Sherrie and David get married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony, in front of family and friends, on an absolutely gorgeous late Summer's day.

Having never been to the Old Hall myself, I arrived early to take a good look around before the celebrations got going. What a stunning location! You can see for miles around and as you approach the Old Hall from the top of the drive, you are treated to a spectacular view of Ely Cathedral.

Having been for a wander around, enjoying the views and some of the sunshine, I joined Sherrie and her bridal party as they put the finishing touches to the reception marquee. A balloon or two may have gone astray but all were in place by the time the wedding breakfast and speeches commenced and the place looked fantastic.

"Expert at capturing the moment!... If you want loads of little special moments of emotion captured in award winning photos, Rob’s your photographer! An absolute pleasure to have at our wedding and blended in effortlessly as if he was a guest that everyone had known for years. We can’t recommend Rob enough!!"

An outdoor Wedding Ceremony in Cambridgeshire

Full of smiles and shedding a good number of tears, this bride and groom were clearly feeling the emotion. Hugs, kisses and congratulations followed, before a short wander around the grounds of the Old Hall for some portraits of the happy couple.

There were plenty more (happy) tears and laughter throughout the rest of the day, with a series of speeches that really tugged on the heart strings and had me wiping tears from my eyes more than once.

The evenings entertainment unfolded, the Prosecco flowed and Sherrie and David cut their cake (in front of some people excited to have the first taste) before a seriously romantic first dance and later, a cracking game of Mr and Mrs - queue more tears of laughter!

As ever, thank you to the bride and groom, Sherrie and David, for choosing me to capture their day - it was perfect - enjoy!

Sherrie and David's wedding at the Old Hall in Ely was a beauty. A bright, sunny day, loads of smiles and laughter and a generous sprinkling of tears from bride, groom and assembled guests!

More from this one to follow soon but for now here's just a little sneak peek at a wonderful day out in Cambridgeshire - enjoy!

Chippenham Park Wedding | Sneak Peek

Wedding at Chippenham Park, a Sneak Peek

Something of a first for me on Sunday was the amazing English and Indian fusion wedding at Chippenham Park. A truly stunning wedding, with some of the hottest weather all year, surprisingly so for an August Bank holiday weekend!

I haven't had a chance to go through all the images I took but this one was easy to find, it stuck in my mind the moment I took it. A relatively simple image, in one sense, it portrays the Kanyadan wedding ritual, essentially the giving away of the bride to her groom. For me though, the placement of the hands and the beauty of the ritual powerfully symbolised the love this family have for one another. It felt far less about giving something away, than about how happy they all were to welcome Kai to their family.

There'll be more from this wedding but for now I'll leave you with this little peek - enjoy!

This Chippenham Park wedding took place on an extremely hot, sunny and in every sense of the word, vibrant wedding, one of my favourite wedding venues in Cambridge.

The day began with Abha getting ready for a traditional English ceremony which took place overlooking the river that runs through the grounds at Chippenham Park. After this beautiful outdoor ceremony, we took a few quick portraits before Abha and Kai went away to prepare for their Hindu ceremony.

Guests were treated to some amazing food, garden games, magicians, an ice-cream van and an amazing evening party!

This was definitely one of the Summer's highlights for me and i can'y wait to go back to a wedding at Chippenham Park again soon!
