VOEWOOD HOUSE WEDDING | ALICE & LAWRENCE

VOEWOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

I was really excited when Alice and Laurence booked me to be the photographer for their wedding at Voewood House. Voewood had been on my bucket list for a little while.

Laurence and Alice both work in creative industries and it's easy to see why they were drawn to Voewood for their wedding. It's an extremely cool and charismatic venue, nestled away on the outskirts of Holt in North Norfolk. It's an arts and crafts treasure trove and a place with so many nooks and crannies that you could spend weeks playing hide and seek and still find somewhere new to explore. A more sunning backdrop to a wedding in North Norfolk is hard to find.

The entire day was spent at Voewood from the preparations, with the lovely Paula and Michelle from Amanda Steed Bridal Hair and Make-Up, to the evening celebrations. There was no rushing about whatsoever, making for an incredibly relaxed vibe to the proceedings!

After the ceremony, Laurence and Alice joined me for a short while to make some portraits of the two of them. They were total naturals!

A day packed with fun and laughter, Laurence and Alice and their friends and family were beautiful company to spend the day with. Everybody made the most of the beautiful weather, spending a long afternoon on the lawn, partaking in some classic garden games and some amazing BBQ from the guys at the Smoking Beetle.

After some cracking speeches back in the house and a fish and chip supper (I was seriously well fed!) the evening celebrations were kicked off by the The Top Bananas who were ... urrm .... absolutely top banana. It's been too long since I saw a conga at a wedding (a sentence I never thought I'd write) but they are without a doubt some of the most unique performers I've ever seen at a wedding!

I’m looking forward to returning for more Voewood Wedding Photography again in 2017 but for now, here are some of my faves from Laurence and Alice's incredible day. Thanks to you both for having me guys - enjoy!

Back to the Garden | A North Norfolk Wedding

Kate & Neil's relaxed Back to the Garden Wedding, Holt

Kate and Neil married on a bright, crisp day in May at the fabulous Back to the Garden wedding venue near Holt. The morning began at Kate's parents where I was treated to her mum's home cooking before making the short walk to the local parish church in Langham. It's a beautiful church and one I would be lucky to visit again, just a few months later, for a Norfolk farm wedding.

After their church service, the newlyweds headed down to Morston, on the North Norfolk coast, where we took in the views and I made some portraits of the couple before heading on to their reception for great food, great speeches and some amazing dancing.

A great couple, I was so pleased to share in their day and I can't wait to put their wedding album together - enjoy!

Pentney Abbey Wedding | Amy + Tim

A Summer wedding at Pentney Abbey

First up, this is an old post, albeit still a bloody lovely wedding. But you should go here if you want to see a more up to date wedding at Pentney Abbey.

Amy and Tim were married at the fabulous Pentney Abbey wedding venue. Just a few miles from Kings Lynn and an hours drive from my home in Norwich, the abbey has been lovingly restored to create a very special and romantic wedding venue. Pentney Abbey lends itself well to small, intimate ceremonies and is run by the fabulous team at Unique Norfolk Venues. I'm pleased to say I'm one of their recommended suppliers.

Amy and Tim were all smiles and laughter during their ceremony and their family and friends shed a few tears. The smiles and laughter rubbed off on everyone and continued throughout the day. We enjoyed some fabulously sunny weather (dodging just the odd shower here and there), a good amount of Pimms and some of the best wedding food going from the amazing Florentina Events.

Thanks to Amy & Tim for having me along to share in their day. I can't wait to deliver their wedding album. Here are a few highlights from their wedding celebrations - enjoy!

Claire + Andy | Brasted's Wedding

Claire & Andy's Brasted's wedding in Norwich

Claire & Andy married at Brasted's, just outside Norwich. Claire was on fine form for her bridal preparations, clearly enjoying every moment as Zoe from GirlyGlam set about her makeup. Andy, meanwhile, definitely the more nervous of the two, soon relaxed after the first look as his bride arrived at the top of the aisle. Both of them were beaming ear to ear!

A fine reception in the gardens of the hotel, where, as the Pimm's came around, we were entertained by Martin, a wedding magician extraordinaire.

Besides their hospitality, Brasted's is well known for some of the finest dining in wedding world and it didn't disappoint - we dined like kings before dancing late into the evening!

HALES HALL BARN | A NORFOLK WEDDING

HALES HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

They are just amazing, thank you so much! Lucy can't stop looking at them.

An amazing day with amazing people, at a stunning wedding venue just south of Norwich, Hales Hall Barn. These two did not stop smiling, ear to ear grins, all day!

I started out with the girls getting ready over in Wymondham with the two Laura's, Laura Hughes on hair and Laura Dosset on make-up. Afterward, I joined the boys at the barn and getting a sense of the excitement building as the guests began to arrive.

The ceremony was truly beautiful. A number of Lucy and Elliot's friends contributed their talents to make it sincerely, very special and very, very moving.

Heading outdoors, the sun was shining. Everyone enjoyed some time on the lawns before some fantastic speeches and an incredible party that continued late into the night, with the guys from D & H Entertainment.

A really special couple, genuinely warm and easygoing, it wasn't hard to see how they'd come together. It was truly an honour to play a part in their day - thanks guys, here's some of your highlights - enjoy!

NORFOLK MEAD WEDDING | CLAIRE & STUART

NORFOLK MEAD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Just one from the wedding of Stuart & Claire last weekend at the Norfolk Mead Hotel in Coltishall.

It was a very cold day so, these two cuddled up nice and close as I pressed the shutter button. Then I jumped in there for a quick cuddle too - it really was very cold!

More from these guys soon but if you can't wait for those, then hop over here to see more of my wedding photography at the Norfolk Mead - enjoy!

Boathouse Wedding in Norfolk

Boathouse Wedding Photography, Norwich

The Boathouse is one of the most popular wedding venues in Norfolk. If you love the Norfolk Broads and spectacular views, then this wedding venue could be just what you're looking for!

I first met Lauraine and Matt at a wedding fair and after a couple of drinks together and a pre-wedding shoot, I must say I was really looking forward to their wedding! They're such an easy going couple and I knew that their day was going to be great fun.

It was a wonderful outdoor ceremony, including a boat trip, barbecue food, drinks overlooking Ormesby Broad and later in the evening, Lauraine and Matt took a row on the broad together as the sun began to set!

Fantastic, heartfelt speeches and a party rocked by the incredible Joe Ringer Band, this was a wedding that will stay long in my memory!

An amazing day in a fantastic, special location. It would not have mattered where Lauraine and Matt chose to got married, they and their friends and family would have had the perfect day almost anywhere but having it at the Boathouse was the icing on the proverbial cake, the actual cake was also pretty good!

If you're planning a wedding at the Boathouse, get in touch and tell me more - enjoy the pics!

Norfolk Wedding Photographer | Dairy Barns Wedding

Dairy Barns Wedding Photography

Norfolk abounds with some amazing and wonderful wedding venues.  Next year, amongst others on my bucket list, I have the pleasure of working at Chaucer Barn, Narborough Hall and Kimberley Hall!  Norfolk is also home to the broads and some of the most beautiful and varied coastline in the country which, never fails to provide inspiration, or, indeed, act as a stunning backdrop to my wedding photography.  This particular wedding at the Dairy Barns on the North Norfolk Coast was one such occasion.  An incredibly cold and blustery day, Tony and Mandy braved the winds and donned their wellies for a walk along the beach to capture some gorgeous portraits.  Another fabulous opportunity to work with Katherine Ashdown and the amazing Emily of Love Moi Makeup.  My best wishes to Mandy and Tony, a truly wonderful couple - enjoy!

Holkham Hall Wedding Photography | North Norfolk Wedding Photographer

Holkham Hall Wedding Photographer

This beautiful wedding, at Holkham Hall on the North Norfolk coast, was a fantastic opportunity for me to second shoot with the very lovely Katherine Ashdown.  Like a lot of wedding photographers, I started to build my wedding photography portfolio through assisting and second shooting.  And while I have my own business now, taking an opportunity to be second shooter for the day is still something I love to do.  It helps keep me on my creative toes, it’s a brilliant way to grow and learn as a photographer and I get to meet some really great people, both photographers, as well as Brides and Grooms.  For the lead photographer it can help to have another experienced photographer along for the day, someone who can be trusted to complement their work, as well as bringing a little something extra to the photography. Two photographers means two different vantage points, lens choices and creative perspectives which all go toward telling the story of your wedding day.  I don’t automatically include a second shooter with my wedding packages but if it were something you would like to consider, then get in contact here and we can build a bespoke photography package that suits your plans for your wedding day.  Take a moment to enjoy the images and please feel free to leave a little comment love below. And if you haven't already booked a venue, then you can't go far wrong with this one. And if you'd like to see more from the Holkham Estate then you can take a look at this Holkham Hall Wedding too!

Norfolk | Suffolk | Cambridgeshire | UK - Wedding & Lifestyle Photography

Welcome to the first post on my new blog, a new home for my Wedding and Lifestyle Photography.  I am a Norfolk Wedding Photographer and Family Photographer but I work right across the UK.

I have been posting my photography in various different ways over the past few years but with the launch of my new website, I can finally host a blog of my own! To kick things off, I thought I’d share photography from my personal archive, taken in Cambridgeshire just a few weeks ago.  These are photographs of my own family, 3 generations thereof, having recently become a dad.

My beautiful baby girl is just over a year old now but in that short time, as good as my memory is, if it wasn’t for the photographs to look back on, I’m not sure I would be able to recall all those ever so precious memories. While I have always been passionate about the power of photography to freeze a moment in time, having a family of my own and so many memories to capture has really brought this home to me. I’m passionate about my photography because I get a real buzz capturing special moments like these.

Your family will experience many happy milestones together but these special times often go undocumented.  One thing I have learnt about having children is that time passes, at least, twice as fast (& you get five times as little sleep!). While you can't stop the clock, or, turn back time, hiring a professional photographer to undertake a family lifestyle shoot, can help you capture these memories so you can enjoy looking back on them for years to come.

You might have thought the only way to have a professional portrait taken is to stand in front of a big set of lights in a studio. Trust me, it isn't & as much as I love looking back on photographs of myself as a child, that cheesy studio backdrop always makes me cringe! Who wants to sit in a studio, when you can go to the beach, hang out at the park, or, go for a walk in the woods, kicking leaves & splashing about in puddles? Hey, the kids might even enjoy it too!

A lifestyle shoot gives you a great deal of choice over where your photographer takes your family's photographs. It allows so many more creative opportunities to shoot your story, your style. Creative studio work can be cool but for me, at least, it can't match having fun outdoors!

If you're worried about what to wear on an outdoor shoot there's no need to be. While camouflage gear is not advisable, so long as you wear something that you feel comfortable in and try to avoid anything with large logos, or, motifs, you'll be okay. Small detailed prints are fine and bold, bright colours work well. Some stripes can work but be careful when choosing them.

Family lifestyle photography is all about you and your family, your life and style. It's about having fun and getting some great images, capturing memories that you will always treasure - enjoy!
