Oxnead Hall Wedding Photography

Ruth and Nick chose Oxnead Hall, in Norfolk, to hold their wedding day. It's a stunning wedding venue.

A blustery start meant that the couple's plans for an outdoor wedding had to change and moved indoors.

Indoor or, outdoor ceremony, it mattered not at all. You could see it in their faces, as Ruth came up the aisle; just being together, in that moment, was all that mattered.

There were smiles aplenty and some dabbing away of tears as vows were exchanged.

After making things official and being showered in confetti, the newly weds and their guests made their way across the lawns and down to the stunning walled garden. There isn't a much finer setting for a drinks reception.

Amazing food and service, as ever, from the guys at Unique Norfolk Venues. It's always a good show when they're involved.

Shout outs to Flamingo Amy, on hair and make-up and to the Jackdaw Wedding Duo, accompanying the ceremony and drinks reception. Also, Ellie's Cakery for some top notch wedding cake and to Floral Sistas and the Little Lending Company with their flair for making it all look so good.

A wonderfully relaxed gathering, friends and family celebrating together with great food, drink aplenty and music from Norfolk Wedding DJ, Paul Allen (always a pleasure!).

A perfect day, here's just a few pics - enjoy!

Voewood Wedding Photography

Voewood is an exceptional venue, a deservedly award winning venue, there is nothing quite like it in the rest of the county. Many venues claim to be unique, Voewood truly is and it's an absolute gem of a place to photograph a wedding. There are so many nooks and crannies to explore and even though I have been there many times over the years, I don't think I would ever get bored of the place! It's a venue that always lends itself to very laid back couples who just want to have a great big party to celebrate their wedding day, just how it should be!

I started the day with Millie and her bridesmaids who were already in high spirits when I arrived. But with Nick also getting ready there, I was able to spend my time moving between the rooms of the house, capturing frames from both the brides and the grooms' preparations.

Nick looked very dashing and Millie absolutely wowed in her bespoke Emma Beaumont dress and gold Jimmy Choo's. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful dresses I have seen.

An outdoor wedding, their ceremony took place under canopy, which was a good idea; there were showers, here and there. The rain came and went though and after the ceremony guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn accompanied by music from Sugar.

Millie and Nick had a large number of guests to entertain and a marquee, looking across the gardens to the house, provided the space and backdrop for their wedding breakfast.

The dining experience was, as to be expected, incredible; the wedding catering provided by Florentina.

The venue and marquee, meanwhile, were styled by the lovely Penny from the Little Lending Company who, it is always a pleasure to bump into and who was on hand that day, putting finishing touches to the decor. It looked amazing.

The whole day was amazing and one I was really happy to have been a part of. So, here's a few photos from Millie and Nick's Vooewood wedding - enjoy!

When Robyn and Ryan booked me for their Bruisyard Hall wedding, I couldn't have been more excited! "Probably the best wedding venue in Suffolk" [sic], I had been looking forward to visiting Bruisyard Hall for some time!

Both bride and groom got ready at Bruisyard, meaning I got to spend time with the guys and girls before heading to a picture perfect ceremony at Southwold church.

An amazing day spent with amazing people – here’s just a few images from their Suffolk Wedding Photography but there'll be more from this wedding soon!

Godwick Hall Wedding Photography

An Outdoor Wedding at Godwick Hall

Godwick Hall Wedding Photography

WOW! This was my first time at a Godwick Hall wedding and that sense of amazement, the WOW stayed with me all day! Godwick Hall was the most perfect outdoor wedding venue for Lucy and Simon’s big day! Gorgeous blue skies and blazing hot sunshine made for a spectacular al fresco wedding.

I first met Lucy and Simon to discuss their wedding at Godwick Hall in December 2016! We met over coffee at the Georgian Townhouse in Norwich and I knew then that their day was going to be one to remember. I couldn’t wait until August 2018 to see them again so, we hooked up in January this year, for their pre-wedding photography in Wells and so, by the time their wedding had come around, they felt like old friends. I’ve known them almost two years now!!! Anyone who has met them will attest to just how bloody lovely they are, their humour and good nature is infectious – just a joy to be around!

I got to photograph this one alongside wedding videographer, Pete Henderson, another good friend and I was also alongside the talented Leanna Stibbon, make-up artist in Norfolk and Flamingo Amy on hair, making this day extra special!

Starting in the Farmhouse for the bridal preparations, I wandered the rooms, soaking up the atmosphere before making my way down to Godwick Great Barn where, outdoors, the hay bales and flower arch were all laid out, awaiting the wedding guests and their bride and groom!  Soon enough the Godwick tractor began to escort Lucy’s bridesmaids to the venue before collecting Lucy and her dad. At the top of the aisle, Simon waited with his brother and groomsmen, sharing jokes to keep the nerves at bay.

A wonderful ceremony followed. The vows were amongst some of the most heartfelt I’d heard but you couldn’t see my tears for the sweat (sorry for the image) – this one was a scorcher! Wiping my brow, I continued to photograph the newlyweds and their friends and family. It was perfect weather for guests to enjoy the grounds and garden games, before taking in some shade in the barn for the wedding speeches. It was too hot to take photos of the happy couple at this point, outdoors at least and so we nipped into the bell-tent and Lucy and Simon had a little cuddle!

After the speeches and an afternoon tea, there was plenty of dancing and drinking and getting all glittered up at the Love Moi Glitter Bar (me included, see below!). This all kept the party going through until the small hours, sustained by food and amazing flavours courtesy of Christophe’s Crepes – seriously good stuff!

So many favourite memories from this day, it’s hard to pin one down. But everyone singing along to Champagne Supernova at the end of the night and Simon dipping his bride to give her kiss, to applause from everyone around them is definitely up there!

Thanks guys for choosing me. And thanks for the good times – may there be many more to look forward to – enjoy!

“Rob they are incredible. You’ve captured our personalities perfectly. Took me a full 29 seconds before I became a blubbering Mess! (Simon found it a bit too funny!!)”

A Keeper and the Dell Wedding

Wedding Photography at the Keeper and the Dell

Rachel and Andy’s wedding at the Keeper and the Dell was such an incredible day to be a part of, made no less so for being able to catch up to, Laurs and Matt, a bride and groom whose wedding I photographed a few years ago, as well as some of their same friends and family.

Rachel and Andy got married in an outdoor ceremony at Keeper and the Dell – an idyllic woodland wedding venue in Norfolk between Norwich and Fakenham. They both looked absolutely amazing. Andy dressed in a sharp suit and shades and his beyond stunning bride in her Jimmy Choos – a gorgeous pair of strappy high heels – tea length wedding dress and a colourful floral headpiece perfectly matched to her bouquet!

“Thank you so much for capturing the day perfectly, it really was like having another friend at the wedding. ? Your amazingly shot pictures will keep the memories of our wedding alive for years to come. Anyone looking for a photographer, look no further Rob Dodsworth is a must! Xx”

The day was one of the most relaxed weddings I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of and tradition was well and truly out the window which, is precisely what the couple had planned and hoped for! Their goal for their big day was for it to be fun and laid back – perfect for my style of wedding photography and The Keeper and the Dell most certainly lends itself to that kind of vibe. Drinks were served pre-ceremony, while the Bride and Groom mingled with their guests for a good hour or so before they tied the knot. With everyone in good spirits and the sun shining bright, guests took their seats for an informal ceremony, conducted by Andy’s dad and Rachel’s brother. You can see from the photos how much fun they had with it!

After the ceremony, there was plenty more fun and games, lots more drinking and dancing to tunes by Miserable Man, who was anything but – seriously, check him out!

There were no formal speeches, receiving lines or, cake cutting, Rachel and Andy took to the balcony to thank everyone for coming but otherwise the day really was as free-wheeling as it is possible to be – the band playing late into the night as the party, I’m sure continued ’til the early hours!

A fantastic day to be able to play a part in, I was treated just like an old friend and I would not have wanted to be anywhere else! Hats off to everyone running the show at the Keeper and the Dell and thanks also for these lovely words…the feeling is mutual and I can’t wait to come back!

“Rob delivered an absolutely cracking gallery of photos from a recent wedding, capturing the day all so perfectly. We always cross our fingers that the Photographer will capture the look & vibe, but it doesn’t always happen ~ Rob did it so well. Thank you for sharing your images with us and we hope to welcome you back to The Dell again.” – The Keeper and the Dell

Thanks you so, so much Rachel and Andy – wishing you all the happiness and I hope you’ll enjoy your photos for many years to come!

Rachael and Andy’s Keeper and the Dell wedding, near Norwich, was spot on. The Keeper and the Dell is a really unique wedding venue and was absolutely perfect for what Rachael and Andy had planned. There were loads of laughs and the bride and groom could not have been happier or more smiley! They wanted an intimate, relaxed celebration with their nearest and dearest and that is exactly what they got – there was no real formality to any of the proceedings and at the heart of it all, it was just one big party! There will be more Keeper and the Dell wedding photos soon – but for now I’ll leave you with this little sneak peek!

Bride and groom on the dance floor at voewood

Amy & Greg's Voewood Wedding

A Voewood Wedding in North Norfolk

Before we begin, it’s only fair I pay credit to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and S Club 7 for their respective influences to the copy in this here blog post! Two bands, I’m fairly sure, aren’t often mentioned in the same breath. I’m not ashamed to say I am a bit partial to both of them. And my eclectic taste in music works well here, for, it is to a Voewood Wedding we go today. A wedding venue in Norfolk that is, most certainly, a little eclectic itself!

Ok… so it’s no secret that I love Voewood! It’s beyond exceptional. It’s kooky, quirky, whimsical and wonderful and many other superlatives beside. It’s a place I never tire of returning to. Not far from the North Norfolk coast and the Georgian town of Holt, it’s a country house like no other. You honestly have to see it to believe it. And so, when, in 2017, no less than 3 couples chose me to capture their wedding at this extraordinary wedding venue, I was absolutely thrilled.

On Amy and Greg’s big day I was joined by Videographer extraordinaire, Mike, from Capture Media. We began with the bride and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite at Voewood, spirits were high and Amy’s sister entertained us all, to help Amy with a few nerves.

Afterward, Mike and I made our way to join the groom and groomsmen at a pub near the church. Unfortunately, there was no time for us to grab a pint on this occasion, there was already so much going on and we both set straight to capturing it.

The sun was certainly shining on this bride and groom for their big day, streaming through the windows of the house and their church and adding to the atmosphere as they exchanged their vows in front their friends and family.

As the bells rang out from the Church of the Annunciation, on Friday Market in Little Walsingham (picture perfect this was!), Amy and Greg got into a 1960 Ford Zephyr Mk. II Convertible, an amazing set of wheels in which to be transported back to Voewood. And as they flew away on their Zephyr, I’m fairly sure they felt it more than ever and in that perfect weather, they found a place together ?

Dashing off ahead of the new Mr and Mrs I got back to Voewood to set up ready for their arrival. The house and gardens looked stunning and Amy and Greg, their friends and family made the most of the dry weather and we made a few portraits outside as they were entertained to the sounds of a jazz band! Drinks on the lawn followed before some cracking speeches and the most wonderful food laid on by Florentina Events, before the evenings entertainment ensued and the couple took to the dance floor. And as everyone who has been to a wedding at Voewood knows – their ain’t know party like a Voewood Party!?

Here’s just a few frames from their special day – enjoy!

Bride and Groom at Bressingham Hall Wedding in Norfolk

A Norfolk Wedding

"Rob they are awesome. So completely overwhelmed. They really are amazing. You are a star. Ahhhhhg"

Kate and Liam's wedding ceremony took place in the village Kate grew up, near Diss in Norfolk. A crisp, sunny autumn day, I joined the girls at home for the bridal preparations before the short journey to the village church to join the boys. The church was beautiful, with light flooding every corner, it made for a stunning setting.

It was a fun and emotional wedding and the happy couple got so swept up in proceedings that they ended up having two first kisses, having jumped the gun the first time round. Hugs, kisses and confetti followed before Kate and Liam went for a ride around the countryside in a classic Bentley.

Wedding Photographer at Bressingham Hall

Bressingham Hall and High Barn is a fabulous Norfolk wedding venue, set amongst the world renowned Bressingham Gardens and located on the border of Norfolk and Suffolk. The gardens were a joy to work in and in between showers, we got some great portraits of the bride and groom as they spent some time laughing and joking together. The laughter along with tears of joy, continued throughout the afternoon as the wedding guests enjoyed a series of brilliant speeches.

All the fun of the Fair

As the evening approached, guests were treated to some olde world fairground thrills on Bressignham's Gallopers, a carousel of sorts which brought a smile to everyone's face, no matter their age! Later in the evening, after the cake was cut, Kate and Liam took to the dance floor to their favourite song, Elbow's "A Day Like This". They were surprised by their Best Man who had arranged for Guy Garvey himself to record his congratulations and announce them on to the dance floor - amazing!

I loved being a wedding photographer at this wedding. It was an incredibly special day with a really laid back group of friends and family, just the type of wedding I enjoy. So, a massive thanks to Liam and Kate for inviting me to be part of their special day. It was an absolute pleasure to play a part in and I hope you love your wedding photos - enjoy!

Update February 2018: Kate and Liam's nuptials were featured on So You're Getting Married! Here's what editor Phoebe had to say about it:

"Rob’s style feels exceptionally authentic and as if he simply blended in to the day. A perfect choice if you don’t want overly posed images"

Thanks Phoebe! ?

Wedding Photography at Sussex Barn, North Norfolk

Polly and Alex were married at Sussex Barn in North Norfolk. It was the second trip there for me in as many months, having photographed another wedding at Sussex Barn in September.

The morning began with the girls getting ready at the White House. The atmosphere was relaxed when I first arrived but people soon began busying around as the ceremony drew nearer. I spent my time between bridal preparations and the guests arriving to greet Alex at Sussex Barn, before Polly alighted a sidecar with her dad and were driven by a Yamaha XJ650 (I'm told the one that appeared in Never Say Never Again - although Q has since removed its capability to fire rockets) to join Alex at the top of the aisle.

Polly and Alex could hardly take their eyes of one another all day and there were some really tender and loving moments during their ceremony.

After some wonderful speeches, the newlyweds were surprised by a number of their guests joining together to form a choir and sing to them. Later on, they were serenaded by Polly's best friend as they took to the floor for their first dance. Polly and Alex told me that friends and family having a good time was key to their day and they booked me because they wanted informal candids of them enjoying themselves. The day was full of genuinely beautiful and heartfelt moments - it was really lovely to see how much their friends and family cared about them and how much they wanted to make their day extra special. I might have had a lump or two in my throat!

It was a grey, wet and dull day outside but far from a dull wedding - it was full of the warmth and love of their friends and family. I am so pleased to have been able to play my part in their celebrations. Thank you Polly and Alex for choosing me to capture it - enjoy!
