A wedding at Langley Abbey near Norwich

A Langley Abbey Wedding

Wedding Photography at Langley Abbey, Norfolk

I knew this wedding at Langley Abbey would be a fun one to photograph and I was so right – from arriving with Mandy and her bridesmaids in the morning, to hanging out with Kyle and his groomsmen, while they tried to control some restless children, as they waited for a very late bride ... my latest ever but I'm sure Kyle agrees, it was worth the wait! Their ceremony was beautiful, Kyle could hardly take his eyes off his bride and Mandy was all smiles! Parents, Grandparents, aunties and uncles all brimming with pride as her brother walked Mandy down the aisle to a beaming Kyle. There was so much love and joy in the room! Full of smiles, Prosecco and covered in confetti the newlyweds enjoyed a wonderful wedding breakfast (Brasteds dining is second to none!) and some amazing speeches. My cheeks hurt by the end of them from all the laughter and smiles! From beginning to end the rooms were lit up by the people in them, including the fantastic Mike Savory, Kyle and Mandy's wedding videographer. A great day all around, it was a true joy to capture their special day. Thanks Mandy and Kyle - I can't wait to put your album together for you!

If you are having a wedding at Langley Abbey, get in touch, it would be great to hear what you have been planning - enjoy!

The Georgian Townhouse Wedding of Edwina & Mark

When Edwina told me she was getting hitched, I knew I wanted in. She and Mark had planned a Georgian Townhouse wedding in Norwich and it was bound to be one heck of a party! Anyone who knows Edwina knows that she is far from the shy and retiring type!

The day began at the Georgian Townhouse for bridal prep with Edwina and her bridesmaid, Jo and Flamingo Amy on hair and make-up! Later on, I joined Mark and his friends at the pub in Trowse for a few drinks (them not me ... promise!) before a beautiful ceremony at their local church. Later, a cab ride to the Plantation Garden for a little wander, loads of snogging (again ... them not me!) and some portraits, then back to the Georgian Townhouse for the rest of the days celebrations! Edwina's eldest son absolutely nailed the speech giving, the Groom and his Best Men certainly had a hard act to follow. (NB That isn't really a picture of a minor, drinking wine straight from the bottle, I'm assured the bottle contained nothing more than Ribena!)

Following the speeches, it was onto the dancing! The floor filled almost immediately and stayed that way through the night, with occasional nudity, toilet roll Limbo, a glitter bar and some more occasional nudity, just for good measure! My camera is still covered in glitter!

An absolutely fantastic wedding and a pleasure to meet up with some familiar faces. A huge thanks to Edwina and Mark for choosing me to capture such an amazing day!

A wedding ceremony at Sussex Barn in North Norfolk

Sussex Barns Wedding Photography

A Wedding at Sussex Barn in North Norfolk

Welcome to the Sussex Barn wedding of Sarah and Mike. The day started for me at Sarah's childhood home, near Kings Lynn. The house was full of photos of the family through the years. One of my favourite photos was of Sarah's dad looking like a "mad scientist", a little like "Doc" Brown from Back to the Future and he's still quite the character! Looking at these photographs, Sarah told me some great stories and it was clear how important my photography would be in adding to these memories and to their family's photographic record. That's what makes being a wedding photographer so special. I want to say thank you to the family and Sarah's bridesmaids for making me feel so welcome and part of the group that morning.

Following on from some time with the Sarah and her bridesmaids, I made the journey to Sussex Barn in Burnham Market, through the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. Mike and his groomsmen were enjoying a few pre-wedding drinks and making some last minute preparations. Wedding guests began to arrive, slowly at first but then the venue atmosphere really got going, with people hugging, laughing and catching up to each other.

The ceremony was a beauty. Sarah arrived looking absolutely amazing, her dad beaming with pride, as he took by the arm and walked her up the aisle. At the top of the aisle, Sarah drew in a deep breath, of nervous anticipation, but from then on in, she and Mike were all smiles. It was an honour to be there and through my photography to show what they are together, to show their love for each other and that of their friends and family. Sarah and Mike (Dave!) thanks so much for choosing me to join you - enjoy!

Chaucer Barn Winter Wedding

A Winter Wedding at Chaucer Barn

A cold November day but Chaucer is a Wedding Venue in Norfolk that has it's own very special warmth and atmosphere and it delivered this in abundance for Hayley and Ashley's wedding celebrations. A small, intimate gathering of their close friends and family, it was the most perfect end to my 2017 wedding season. Here's just a few pics from their big day - enjoy!

NARBOROUGH HALL GARDENS | A NORFOLK WEDDING

Narbrough Hall Wedding Photography

A fine summers day, fine people and an absolutely  stunning venue, in Narborough Hall Gardens, made Laura and Simon's one of my favourite weddings this year! Laura started out with her hair and makeup at home, before moving onto the splendour of Narborough Hall to get into her dress and enjoy a glass of champagne or two! Rain threatened and there was a rumour that the registrar planned to talk to Laura about bringing the ceremony indoors. Instead, I stole her away for a few bridal portraits thus, avoiding any such conversation. A whispered prayer to the man upstairs and the rain clouds parted and Laura and Simon were married by the water under a beautiful floral arch! The weather only improved from there on in and I captured some gorgeous portraits of the happy couple in the late evening light. These guys even chose to delay their dessert to allow me the opportunity to do this and I love them for it!

We hired Rob as our wedding photographer and I honestly cannot rate him enough!

I was nervous about the photos and had even contemplated not hiring a professional photographer as I genuinely do not like having my photo taken. However, from the moment Rob arrived, his laid back approach and great sense of humour instantly put me at ease. He worked his socks off and I can actually say, for the first time in my life, I enjoyed having my photo taken. Myself and my husband have both since said that it felt like he was another one of our friends that we were spending the day with and added to our wedding experience, which is more than we could have hoped for. Thank you, we appreciate it no end!

- Laura & Simon

An absolutely fantastic day and an absolutely fantastic venue. I'm returning to Narborough Hall in 2018 and if you're planning a wedding at Narborough Hall too, then I'd love to hear from you!

A wedding ceremony at Hush in Norfolk

A Norwich Wedding at Hush Venues

A Tipi Wedding at Hush Venues in Norwich

Lisa and Tom's Tipi Wedding at Hush Wedding Venues in Norwich was all about love, fun and colour. There was plenty of each! I was really excited for their outdoor wedding, not least because this woodland wedding venue is just down the hill from me (yes ... a hill in Norfolk. Ok, more of a slight decline from Brundall to Postwick but you get the picture) but because they are a truly lovely couple and were a great laugh!

Hush Venues is a fantastic space for a DIY Wedding in Norfolk and it looked amazing. Just a few miles outside Norwich, it's a countryside, outdoor wedding venue that Lisa and Tom, absolutely, put their own stamp on! It was a really relaxed day, a great gathering of friends and family just enjoying being together, catching up, laughing, drinking and just generally having a really great time and then more drinking and lots of dancing!

It was truly a wonderful wedding to be a part of. Lisa and Tom are absolutely made for each other and their connection shone through in their wedding photos. It couldn't have been a better day!

A massive thank you to Lisa and Tom for having me along for the ride, it was a real pleasure -enjoy!

Georgian Townhouse Wedding Photography

The Castle & The Georgian Townhouse | A Norwich Wedding

Lisa & John's Norwich Castle, Pub and Georgian Townhouse wedding shenanigans

Lisa and John married last Summer at Norwich Castle, a new Norwich Wedding Venue. A small, intimate, ceremony, amongst their close family and friends in the Benefactors Room. When they originally enquired with me, they mentioned that we might end up in the pub (yes, I was sold!) before their reception started proper. And so it was, after one of the smiliest (is that a word?) couples ever tied the knot, we headed on down to the Murderers on Timber Hill for a few drinks. A fantastic way to celebrate tying the knot! After the pub, it was time to join the rest of Lisa and John's wedding guests at their Georgian Townhouse wedding reception on Unthank Road. A short walk through Norwich meant we could grab some unique portraits on the way!

Arriving at the Georgian Townhouse, Lisa and John were greeted by their guests for a party that continued late into the night - their first dance was an absolutely beauty and resulted in one of my favourite photos of the day.

Thanks so much to Lisa and John for having me along to share in your day. And to the lovely Melissa of Melissa Morgan Designs, John's sister, for recommending me and putting such a fun and loving, fun loving couple my way. She's quite the talent and fashioned Lisa's stunning headdress! Here's just a few pics from their celebrations - enjoy!

Southwood Hall | Ellen + Tom

A Winter Wedding at Southwood Hall

I first met Ellen and Tom just before Christmas in 2015, a year ahead of their Southwood Hall wedding, to talk about their plans for their winter wedding. I was recommended to them by a friend and fellow photographer, whose North Norfolk beach wedding I would also photograph in 2016. I, unexpectedly, bumped into them at this Pentney Abbey wedding too. So by the time their wedding came around, it felt like photographing old friends.

Winter weddings might not be every photographers cup of tea but hearing what Ellen and Tom had planned, I knew I wanted in! It was going to be a party that would definitely get me in the Christmas mood.

On the day itself, a cold and misty morning, I made the short journey from my front door in Brundall to Southwood Hall. I was joined at the Cartshed Lodge, where the girls were getting ready, by Rowan from Apricot Weddings. The combined talents (something of a dream team) of Amelia Garwood, Flamingo Amy and Emily from Love Moi Makeup had already set about their work when we arrived and spirits were high. This was just one week before Christmas day, so the place was buzzing with wedding excitement, along with the prospect of the Christmas holiday too!

Ellen and Tom were wed at Ranworth Church and so, after spending some time with the girls, I drove over to Ranworth to join Tom and his groomsmen as they greeted the wedding guests. The mood was just as full of excitement here and the church looked beautiful in Christmas decoration. Ellen arrived at the church with her dad and her bridesmaids and there followed a very warm and emotional ceremony. The new Mr and Mrs Richardson then made their way to celebrate with family and friends back at Southwood Hall. And what a party! Absolutely corking speeches and quite possibly one of the most insane and full dance floors I've ever had at a wedding. These guys partied hard and late into the night! It was an absolute pleasure to be there to capture it and to play a small part in what, is still, a very, very memorable day! Thank you, so much, Ellen and Tom for having me along for the ride!

I have some winter weddings to look forward to later this year and I'm looking forward to another winter wedding at Southwood Hall in December 2019! If you're planning a winter wedding and would like to chat about your plans, you can get in touch here or, go here for more for more Southwood Hall wedding photos - enjoy!

NORFOLK BEACH WEDDING | CAT + ALEX

A North Norfolk Wedding on the Beach

When Cat told me she was getting married I couldn't have been happier for her but when she asked me to be her photographer, I was over the moon.

Cat's a great wedding photographer in her own right and we've helped each other out at weddings over the years but it's still a little nerve wracking photographing a photographer's wedding. I have nerves enough at any wedding (the good kind!) but fortunately, Cat and Alex's day was so chilled out and their friends and family were so much fun to spend the day with that it didn't really feel like work at all. I was bare foot most of the day and wearing shorts, it was a beach wedding after all! And what a wedding! It took place on Scolt Head Island, an offshore barrier island between Brancaster and Wells-next-the-Sea that can only be accessed by boat at certain tide times. I spent the morning with Cat, her close family and Laura on make-up before a short walk along the staithe to where the boats were waiting to ferry assembled wedding guests to the island. You could not have wished for better weather for a beach wedding - it delivered in spades! It was, I'm sure, one of the hottest days of the year!

The ceremony was perfect, by the time Cat arrived, her guests were seated and Alex was waiting nervously with his best man. With the sand between my toes and a beautiful sea view, I had a glorious open space to move around and capture the ceremony. Cat and Alex were all smiles! After hugs and kisses with their guests, there was some time to make a few quick portraits, before I jumped aboard my next ride with Chris Taylor, Cat's Droneographer (I think that's the word!). Chris had been shooting some amazing aerial footage of the ceremony! Arriving back at Burnham Overy-Staithe, the celebrations really got going, with a little help from the Matt Strafford Duo. Family and friends continued to soak up the sun and enjoyed the drinks reception with delicious canapés. The wedding breakfast was followed by some incredibly funny and at times emotional speeches, before Cat and Alex took a walk together as the sun set. It was a very relaxed day in a stunning location, just how they imagined it, I'm sure.

Thank you both for having me share in your day. It was a very special experience and most certainly very unique. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together - when you renew your vows on a beach somewhere, give me a shout ok?!

VOEWOOD HOUSE WEDDING | ALICE & LAWRENCE

VOEWOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

I was really excited when Alice and Laurence booked me to be the photographer for their wedding at Voewood House. Voewood had been on my bucket list for a little while.

Laurence and Alice both work in creative industries and it's easy to see why they were drawn to Voewood for their wedding. It's an extremely cool and charismatic venue, nestled away on the outskirts of Holt in North Norfolk. It's an arts and crafts treasure trove and a place with so many nooks and crannies that you could spend weeks playing hide and seek and still find somewhere new to explore. A more sunning backdrop to a wedding in North Norfolk is hard to find.

The entire day was spent at Voewood from the preparations, with the lovely Paula and Michelle from Amanda Steed Bridal Hair and Make-Up, to the evening celebrations. There was no rushing about whatsoever, making for an incredibly relaxed vibe to the proceedings!

After the ceremony, Laurence and Alice joined me for a short while to make some portraits of the two of them. They were total naturals!

A day packed with fun and laughter, Laurence and Alice and their friends and family were beautiful company to spend the day with. Everybody made the most of the beautiful weather, spending a long afternoon on the lawn, partaking in some classic garden games and some amazing BBQ from the guys at the Smoking Beetle.

After some cracking speeches back in the house and a fish and chip supper (I was seriously well fed!) the evening celebrations were kicked off by the The Top Bananas who were ... urrm .... absolutely top banana. It's been too long since I saw a conga at a wedding (a sentence I never thought I'd write) but they are without a doubt some of the most unique performers I've ever seen at a wedding!

I’m looking forward to returning for more Voewood Wedding Photography again in 2017 but for now, here are some of my faves from Laurence and Alice's incredible day. Thanks to you both for having me guys - enjoy!
