a busy dance floor at a Wedding in Suffolk, UK

Wedding Photography in Suffolk

Although I'm a wedding photographer based in Norwich, I travel the width and breadth of the UK but on this particular occasion, I only had to head just over the border into Suffolk. Chloe and Danny got married at Chloe's parents home which, being an old rectory handily has a church in the grounds! This meant there was no rushing to get to the wedding venue, since it was only a short walk door-to-door. If you are planning a stress-free wedding, I recommend that you are getting married in a church that you try and choose a reception venue not too far away. Chloe and Danny nailed it with this one! Everything was but a short walk away and it made for a really relaxed and fun day.

Here's just a few photos from their beautiful Suffolk Wedding. If you are looking for a Wedding Photographer in Suffolk or, indeed elsewhere in the UK or abroad, let's chat - enjoy!

A Sunny Summer Suffolk Wedding in Wenhaston

A wonderful early Summer sunny Suffolk Wedding in Wenhaston (try saying that more than a few times coherently!) was the order of the day for Lucy and Tom! And what a day it was!

I started off with Lucy and her closest friends and family for the bridal preparations. Everyone was in high spirits and there was a real buzz of energy. A short walk down the road, I was able to capture some photos of the guys as well before they took the very short walk to church. The rain threatened but it passed as quickly as it came and by the time the ceremony came around, it was baking sunshine! But the church provided some respite from the sun just as the bell ringers got going – the light in the church was unbelievable and Lucy looked stunning as she made her way, beaming smiles at her soon to be husband, Tom.

The service was fantastic, the vicar was great fun and there were some really lovely readings too! Both beaming smiles as they walked back down the aisle Lucy and Tom hopped aboard a tractor and made their way to the farm and gardens where their celebrations really got going! It was not long before Tom and Lucy had their first dance - not in keeping with tradition perhaps but it really got the whole party started, taking the fun and energy up to 11 and it stayed that way throughout the whole day. I don't think I stopped for breath, there was so much going on but it didn't feel anywhere near like hard work, I was having so much fun photographing and documenting it all.

Rob was THE BEST photographer we could have wished for. On the day he put us at ease, made us laugh and fitted into our wedding party like he was a friend we would have invited. The photos he gave us were perfect. We adore each and every one of them. He really captured the love and laughter from the day and we'll treasure them forever.

The little details and the effort the whole family had put in to decorating the venue was amazing and although the sun was harsh we worked with the light and made the most of the colourful surroundings!

After some outdoor speeches, it was time for the wedding breakfast, where more speeches, fun and games ensued, with an absolutely hilarious game of Mr and Mrs!

Later, there was line dancing and then Lucy's dad got on the decks to play some Northern Soul classics, taking the party through into the early morning. But in spite of all the dancing, the heat and the drinking, some people still found time to go a little mad on the bouncy castle. I hopped in there and tried to take a few pics too. I think I fractured my nose as the flash gun hit me in the face but whatever - I was having too much of a good time to care. If I hadn't had another wedding the next day - I would probably have downed cameras and stayed on that bouncy castle for the night!

Thanks Lucy and Tom, you are a truly wonderful, wonderful couple and your day was absolutely the most amazing day in the best of company, I would not have wanted to be anywhere else - I hope you enjoy your images for many years to come!

A Butley Priory Wedding

Wedding Photography at Butley Priory, Suffolk

Jemma and James wedding at Butley Priory was a beautiful, elegant, affair. I hadn't taken photos at Butley Priory, before this wedding and I was seriously excited!

I first met Jemma and James for their engagement photography in Woodbridge and so I knew their day would be something magical.

The day started at Jemma's mum and dad's home. Her friends were clearly ecstatic that the wedding day had come around. While her mum and dad, were so obviously full of love and pride. They were beaming with it! Upon first seeing her in her dress, Jemma's dad could not wait to take her arm. They had a little practice run of "walking down the aisle" before joining James at Butley church for the real thing!

The ceremony was really lovely. Jemma and James could not have appeared more relaxed. Fits of giggles ensued here and there and watching them together, there was no doubt that they were each marrying their best friend.

After leaving the church in a classic Austin, the newlyweds went for a short ride around the countryside before arriving at the gorgeous Butley Priory. Butley Priory is described on it's website as a fairytale wedding venue. Jemma totally looked the part of a princess in her dress and floral crown, while James looked very dapper in his suit.

The weather held out for everyone to be able to enjoy the splendour of the gardens and grounds, accompanied by some wonderful piano music.

Later on, a fabulous set of speeches that had their wedding guests in stitches, followed by some games on the lawn.

All too soon it was time for their first dance and for me to leave the fairytale and head back home to Norwich. I should, in fact, have left much earlier as Jemma and James had originally booked me up until their wedding breakfast. Yet, I was having so much fun that I totally forgot myself and stayed through into the evening. No regrets here though. Their friends and family kept me well entertained, Dee (Jemma's mum) kept me well fed and the Rockpins provided the tunes to keep the dance floor packed - the time flew by!

A huge thanks to Jemma and James for choosing me to capture their day and for these kind words -

Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your hard work and enthusiasm at our wedding. We are so happy with the photos you took and seven months on its still so lovely to look back at the day through the moments you captured for us. You went above and beyond – thank you so much!

The Athenauem & Angel Hotel Wedding of Lindsey & Rob

Lindsey & Rob  - great company and an absolutely wonderful couple. Their Suffolk wedding was held earlier this year at the Athenauem in Bury St Edmunds with a reception at the Angel Hotel. I photograph weddings of all shapes and sizes but this was possibly one of the most intimate I have had the pleasure of being invited to. Lindsey and Rob wanted to keep things simple and invited just a few close friends and family to share their day.

"Aaargggh omg they're sooo pretty!!!! That's me drooling all evening!!!"

I began by spending some time with Lindsey at the Angel, where I was joined by the fantastic Deb from Gemma Holiday Hair and the ever lovely, Melissa Abel on make-up! Rob was getting ready in the room below and so, a hop down a short flight of stairs, I was able to take a few pics of the groom getting suited and booted.

The ceremony was lovely, huge smiles all round. Afterward, the newlyweds went for a little walk in the Abbey Gardens where all it rained was confetti!

Back at the hotel, beautifully decorated by Noodlepip flowers we were treated to some fine dining and speeches. Afterward, Lindsey and Rob enjoyed a walk along Abbeygate Street and Angel Lane. We made some fantastic portraits and got back indoors just before the heavens opened.

There was more fine dining, drinking and celebrating to be done at 1921, just around the corner from the hotel and a sparkler exit to finish!

A perfect day all in all and a truly lovely group of people to have spent it with - enjoy!

Yesterday, I was in attendance at the EADT Wedding show at Seckford Hall. I met some great couples and other wedding suppliers at the show and I also got to catch up with some of my 2014 brides, who were visiting the show for inspiration and ideas and to put the finishing touches to their wedding plans.

After the show and with camera in hand, I went exploring. Seckford Hall is amazing! It is a truly stunning, Grade II listed, country house hotel, nestled in a natural hollow in the Suffolk countryside just outside Woodbridge. The hotel has been through a recent period of renovation, seamlessly blending, even marrying (if you'll excuse the pun) its tudor grandeur with modern day comforts and design.

Thanks to all of the staff who made the show a pleasure to be a part of and a special thanks to the staff at Seckford for their hospitality and for the tour.

I hope to return soon to this most beautiful venue, so should you be planning a wedding here or, further afield, please do get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you :)

This Suffolk wedding took place in the picturesque village of Bungay last Easter Sunday.  The bride and groom were married at Holy Trinity Church in Bungay and treated their guests to a fantastic wedding breakfast and party.   Driving from Norwich, I passed through hale and snow to get to this wedding but although the weather was cold, the event itself was on fire.  There was a surprise cabaret, organised by the Brides brother and sister, a live dance band and yet another surprise performance, courtesy of the Groom's nephews, of the ubiquitous "Gangnam Style".  Caroline, a professional musician, couldn't resist and accompanied the band on her violin.  A wedding awash with fun and colour, it was a joy to be a part of their celebrations.
