101st Birthday Celebration of Flt Lt Colin Bell (Ret'd) DFC

A few photos from the 101st birthday of Flt Lt Colin Bell (Ret'd) DFC at the RAF Club in March 2022.

In a packed ballroom, at the RAF Club, Colin's friends and family were regaled with tales of his time flying the DeHavilland Mosquito with 608 Squadron (Pathfinder Group) based at Downham Market in Norfolk.

It was truly an honour to be invited along to take photos of this event. Listening to Colin was stirring stuff, awe-inspiring and amusing in equal measure. He flew no less than 50 sorties over Nazi Germany in an aircraft famously made from wood. This includes 13 missions, in the "wooden wonder", over Berlin - experiences he describes as being "a bit dicy".

I left the celebrations at midnight. I'm fairly sure, having spoken with Colin's friends and family that he will have continued the party into the early hours!
