Why You Should Have a Wedding Album
Print Your Photos
Is a wedding album worth it?
If I asked, “When was the last time you physically held a photograph in your hands?”, I’d bet you’d struggle to remember. It’s been a while, right?
Whilst we love to share images digitally, there’s something very special about having photos that you can hold, especially when it comes to sharing your big day with friends and family and with generations to come.
If you’re committed to making it a day to remember and you truly want to remember it all then ask yourself, “What’s left after the vows have been said, the speeches applauded, the knot tied?”
Other than your marriage, of course, your wedding album will be the biggest takeaway from your big day.
On the fence about wedding albums?
Here are just a few of the many reasons why you should have one.
1. Transcend technology
Remember when CDs were the height of technology? And then USBs? We all thought it was the next big thing. But how many photos on a USB stick have you got now shoved in a drawer and forgotten about?
There is something about the feel, touch and, even, smell of a freshly printed album. It’s a tactile experience. An album that is unique to you, something that you will treasure. Something that allows you to sit down with your partner and relive it all page by page.
And best of all, it’s totally analogue, it will never break or run out of battery!
Albums are perfectly future-proof. These are your memories, and your memories are meant to last. Don’t let them die on a hard drive!
2. Gifts and memories for friends and family
Having an album printed for your parents and family makes a great gift and also for them to treasure and relive the day.
At your wedding, you get to gather all of the people you love, who love you, and who have been part of your life together, in one place. Wherever you go and whatever you do from here on in, you will be glad to have this record of who was there with you on your wedding day, helping to reignite your memory of how it all felt.
You could have a smaller album created and printed that you can give to parents as well, bridesmaids or other special family members.
Traditionally, your first wedding anniversary is marked by paper. It’s a traditional, sentimental, practical gift that celebrates the beginning of your married life together and keeps on giving each anniversary to come.
3. Do your photographs justice
If photography is really important to you then make prints.
Spending money on your wedding photographer to print your images at the chemist though does not do justice to the quality of the professional images you’ve paid for.
When you print your album through your photographer, you are ensuring that your photos will be printed on paper with premier quality and colour to match.
4. Curate your day
By creating a wedding album, you can collate your very favourite images from the day.
You’ve spent months, even years planning your wedding, photos printed in your album will show that off.
Slideshows get watched once or twice but your dinner guests can take their own time leafing through the pages of your wedding album, as you all relive one of the best days of your life, and those people who weren’t there at the time, will also get to see all the fun and joy of your day, long into the future.
Convinced? If not, I’d be happy to put you in touch with any one of my couples who have made the choice to have a wedding album and you can hear from them what it’s like to have your big day in print!
“The thing we both loved so much about the day was what a huge part our family and friends played in it and Rob really captured that perfectly, the joy just jumps off the page! I know in years to come we will treasure having these beautiful reminders of the people we love most in the world.”
