Norfolk Family Photography | A Sparkling Glitter Makeover

A Christmas Glitter Makeover and Party for Maisie

A couple of days ago, I was contacted by the lovely Chantal looking for some help with a little Christmas present she was putting together for a special young lady and her family. Maisie and her friends were given a surprise glitter makeover by the amazing duo that makeup Lacquer and Rouge. Chantal was looking for a local photographer to capture the surprise. It was a little last minute but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to spend some time with Emily and Amy who are always great fun at weddings and who I hadn't seen as much of this year as I'd have liked. I'm so glad I did because I also got to meet Maisie, her family and #TeamAwesome!

Maisie, from Spixworth near Norwich, was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 10 years old. Now 12, I'm sure each day must be quite the struggle at times, to say the least but meeting Maisie and her family on this occasion you would not have known it. Smiles, laughter and jokes in abundance on this particular evening and the girls and even Darryl, Maisie's dad, looked amazing in their glitter!

There is no doubt that Maisie, for someone so young, has been through more than she should ever have had to contend with. But she and her family do it all with a smile on their faces and an amazingly awesome and positive attitude. A lesson to us all.

If you're reading this and you can find it in your heart to help this young lady by donating to Team Awesome then follow this link to an amazing Just Giving page, trying to raise some money toward a new Wheelchair for Maisie.  It'd be a fabulous Christmas gift!

Here's what Maisie's mum had to say:

What a truly amazing afternoon! When Chantal said she wanted the surprise Maisie and her two friends we never imagined quite so much glitter - well, Darrell didn’t!! Trying to make life normal for Maisie, whatever normal is, making her smile and keeping her friends involved is so important. Up until 2 years ago, Maisie did what every healthy 10 year old did, she danced, she did gymnastics, brilliant family holidays and had a general love of life but this was all taken away in the blink of an eye on 4th February 2016. We are so unbelievably grateful to still have Maisie here with or without her being able to walk. She still loves life and has faced everything thrown at her with a beautiful smile. We are so proud of our AWESOME girl and it’s the little things like this which we will remember forever! Thank you again to Chantel, Emily, Amy and especially Rob for stepping in at the last minute and capturing these amazing memories you can follow Maisie’s journey via our Team Awesome Facebook page.

Thanks for reading this far. If you are looking for family photography in Norfolk, get in touch and enjoy the pics.

Wishing you all an amazing Christmas and a very Happy New Year :)
