Style & Approach

by Rob Dodsworth Photography

For the little moments.

What is most important to you about your wedding photography?

What are you hoping to see when you get your photos?

If it’s lots of posed images, dresses hung in trees or close up shots of your wedding rings, that’s not me.

If it’s pictures of people celebrating with you, laughing, crying, crying with laughter and generally having a great time, pictures of funny and unexpected moments, please read on.

But lots of M&M’s

If someone pointed you my way, it’s because they know that you want a photographer on the lookout for those moments which, when captured in a photograph, take you right back to your wedding day the second you see them.

Moments and memories (the M&M’s - get it?!)

When too much of your day turns into a photoshoot, you miss those “blink and you’ll miss it” moments. And honestly? Those are the best bits.

If I were to recommend Rob to my best friend I’d say DO IT! You will not regret it, you’ll get bubbly photographer, receive beautiful romantic portraits and stunning images that are bursting your wedding back to life so you can relive it again, and again! We definitely made the right decision!

Moments matter most!

The real story of your big day.

Sure, we’ll absolutely get the portraits where you look fantastic, the group photos your family will frame forever, and all those gorgeous little details you’ve planned to perfection.

But the real story of your wedding day?

That’s in the good stuff.

Because moments matter most.

When I’m free to roam and do my documentary thing, that’s when I can catch the blink-and-you-miss-it magic — the happy tears, the ridiculous dance moves, the whispered “oh my god we did it,” the hugs that nearly knock you over.

That’s where your memories live.

And that’s where you’ll find me.

The bigger picture.

More than just snapshots.

While I’m constantly on the lookout for moments that will document your day, it’s about so much more than snap shots!

You want your images to tell the bigger picture.

One of the best compliments I ever get is when couples look at their photos and say, “It feels like we’re right back there!”

To get that feeling in your images, you want a photographer who will get stuck into the action of your wedding day.

That feeling doesn’t happen by standing on the sidelines.

To get images that pull you straight back into your wedding day, you need a photographer who’s right in the mix, laughing with your guests, dodging confetti, squeezing into the dance floor chaos, and catching all the tiny moments you didn’t even know were happening.

For the little moments.

We wanted our wedding photography experience to be fun, candid, and un-intrusive, and boy did Rob deliver. The pictures are incredible, and really capture the spirit of the whole day. You can feel the movement and the laughter in every shot. Thank you so much Rob for capturing our day so perfectly, allowing us to relive it over and over, and also for contributing so much to how incredibly FUN the day was. I keep trying to think of excuses I’ll have in the future to hire a photographer again. I cannot recommend enough!

All the fun & energy.

Getting stuck in doesn’t mean I’ll be getting in the way or, standing right in your face as you say your vows.

Far from it. I’m always aware of staying as unobtrusive as possible.

But wedding days are full of energy and you want your wedding photos to reflect that. Whether that involves your friends tearing up the dance floor or, the reaction to a good joke, then I’ll be on the lookout for it!

Photos with feeling

You want to look back on your images and be able to relive your wedding day. That’s the point of having them, right?

A photographer who will be looking out for those moments that give you a sense of the occasion.

The father of the bride seeing his daughter in her dress for the first time or, the emotion on your face as you exchange your vows. The flower girls watching you as you arrive at the church or the tears you didn’t see your sister wipe from her eyes!

We are so unbelievably happy with our wedding photos, and on the day Rob was brilliant, he captured everyone and everything exactly how the day felt and he was such a joy to be around! Our guests loved him just as much as we do!

The real you!

I want you to look at a photo and instantly think, “Yep, that’s us.” — the two of you, exactly as you were in that moment.

Not just your personalities, but the way you feel about each other. The little looks, the silly jokes, the quiet hugs.

Being told my photography “captured the real us” beats any award I could ever win.

Sure, the details matter — your dress, your flowers, your table plan but they’re not the photos you’ll keep coming back to. The ones you’ll laugh at, tear up over, and show off to everyone? Those are the shots of you two, soaking it all in, surrounded by friends and family, having the best day ever.

This is the real story of your wedding.

And that’s exactly what I’m here for.

If you’re here for that too, let’s chat and make it happen - pop your details in the form below and I’ll be in touch!

Most people tend to keep their questions related to wedding photography. Though I maintain, questions about life, the universe, and everything are sometimes worth pondering with new clients and also, what kind of wedding cake you should have (I like fruit cake – just saying).
